17 Brilliant Ways To Use Mason Jars In The Kitchen

1. Mason Jar Lid Labels
Storing food in mason jars eliminates bulky packaging and makes it look a little nicer on your shelf, but sometimes it can be hard to tell what’s in a jar just by looking at it. An easy way to solve this issue is to turn the original packaging into a label for the top of your jar!

Simply trace the shape of the canning ring onto the product name on the box, then use scissors to cut it out and place it on top of the jar lid. Secure it in place with a canning ring, and voila — a simple and effective label that will clear up any confusion!

You can do this with all of your coffee fixings (like creamer, sugar, cinnamon, etc.) and make a cute coffee station on your countertop.

How do you use mason jars in the kitchen?
I have a wide mouth 1/2G Mason jar. When I buy a head of lettuce it is what I store it in. I put a paper towel, (select a size 1 panel); at the bottom. Cut the head of lettuce into 4 pieces. Remove any part you won’t use. Shove the quarters in 1 at a time. Put another paper towel on the top. I use the white plastic lids you can buy at Walmart with the inside canning lid screwed on, put in fridge.

This has saved me a lot of money over the past years. I also do this with bought shredded or salad mix. Doesn’t keep near as long as the head but they do stay usable longer.
What a wonderful idea, Chris. Thanks for sharing this with us. :-)

I made my friend some of your fabulous Coconut Oil Body Wash, but I didn’t have a bottle to put it in. Amazon wanted $5 a bottle for the perfect squirt bottle & I decided that was too much, tho’ they are nice bottles :)

I even bought one for me, so I’m really tickled with my dish soap bottles! They have a pop cap to keep the liquid contained and will probably last a good long time. Plus, I have dish soap left for washing cars or whatever. And the $4 savings per bottle!!
I still need to attack the labels on the bottles, so I’ll be trying the tips I’ve read on that subject.
Love you guys! I have begun reading all the comments after an article as avidly as I read your articles, now!

I even sprayed the litter down with the hose before sweeping it up, as well. And you can always allow it to dry again. We keep a bucket of cat litter in the garage for spills and leaks.

They are leather & the color is like a bone-white or very-very light yellow. I would like to make them white. Is there a way I can paint leather? or if I can’t. How can I clean them without ruining the leather?
Try Amazon. You can make them whatever color you want with a simple kit. https://amzn.to/2J2SxLW

Unfortunately, I could never remember the directions for making them, so I cut out the directions section on the box/bag and put it in the jar. Sometimes I cut the directions so they fit snugly inside the lid, and I’ve even been known to tape the directions on the outside of the jar.
