The Best Way To Keep Track Of What’s In Your Freezer

freezer log

One of the best ways to cut down on food waste in your home is keeping track of what’s in your freezer. If you know what’s in your freezer and how long it’s been in there, you won’t have to do any guesswork about when things need to be eaten before they spoil or end up covered in freezer burn. In order to help you keep track of what it’s in your freezer, I put together a simple printable “Freezer Inventory” log you can download for free below.

How To Use The Freezer Inventory Printable

Just download the freezer inventory, print it out, and then go through your freezer and write down everything you currently have in there. (It’s okay if you don’t know how long things have been in your freezer or when you ought to use them by. Those columns are there to help you keep track of those details moving forward as you add new items to your freezer.)

Once you’ve completed your initial inventory, you won’t have to go digging through the freezer to find out if you had another package of ground beef somewhere in there. And as an added bonus, your freezer will stay tidier too, because you won’t have to pull things out or move them around as much.

And perhaps the biggest benefit of having an up-to-date freezer inventory is that it makes meal planning a lot simpler! Instead of having to dig through your freezer to find out what you have on hand, you can check your list and know instantly. Download the freezer inventory printable using the button below!

Bonus Freezer Inventory Tips

  • Consider laminating the printable or putting it in a sheet protector. That way, you can write on it with an erasable marker and reuse it again and again.
  • Hang your inventory on your fridge or inside a nearby cabinet. Having it close to the freezer will make it easier to remember to use it.
  • You can skip over any frozen treats during your inventory. (Personally, there’s little chance I’m going to forget about frozen treats, and we tend to go through them quickly anyway!)
